Chandimal: We need put our hands up

Ahead of their vital World T20 Super 10s game against England in Delhi on Saturday, Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal has told his fellow batsmen to put their hands up and raise their performance.

The defending champions have struggled in recent times, especially the batting, after the loss of experienced duo Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, who retired from international cricket in the last year.

As one of the more established players in the line up, Chandimal says he and the rest of the middle-order have to be wary of England's fast bowlers.

Chandimal said: "You cannot always say transition. We need to put our hands up. We will give our best shot in the next game.

"We are struggling with the middle order. In big games, we don't have experience. The guys are working hard in practice. We are looking to do well in our next game.

"We are concerned with our middle order but we will have a good chance anyway. England's pacers can be surprise package."
