De Villiers rules himself out England Tests

After announcing that he has no intention of retiring from Test cricket but ruled himself out of the New Zealand series, South African star AB de Villiers has now also said he won’t be taking part in the series against England.

Initially, it was thought that the batsman only wouldn’t feature in the test series against the Black Caps, however, he also revealed that he won’t be taking part in the series against England due to his elbow injury.

He also put doubts on their home series against Bangladesh.

De Villiers has been on the sidelines for a number of months due to an elbow injury, that required surgery, and has been out of international cricket since July 2016.

“I’m just not ready yet,” De Villiers told ESPNcricinfo.

“I’m aware of my elbow. The surgeon said it will be normal. I’m feeling really confident.”

The 32-year-old reiterated his desire to be fully fit for the 2019 Cricket World Cup and admitted that he would have to manage his workload in the coming months.
