Dev backs Dhoni as skipper

Former India skipper Kapil Dev believes that MS Dhoni should stay on as limited overs captain despite the success of Virat Kohli with the Test team.
Dev believes that as long as Dhoni continues to warrant a place in the team with his performances he should continue to skipper India in the shorter formats.
The former World Cup winning allrounder said: “I think the answer people should look for is are we ready to ask Dhoni to take a back seat. It is more important. I think if he is good enough he should carry on.
“But I think at the moment it is very important Dhoni is doing a good job. I think he has enough experience and he should continue.”
Dhoni retired from Test cricket in the middle of a Test series in Australia in December 2014 thrusting Kohli into the role but the master batsman has thrived in the role and led India to the top of the ICC rankings earlier this year.
The wicketkeeper batsman has enjoyed a fair amount of success in guiding the ODI and T20I sides through a period of transition, taking India to the World T20 semi-finals earlier this year and leading India to series wins in Zimbabwe and at home against New Zealand.
The ODI and T20I units of India are next in action when they face England early next year.
England will go home after the fifth Test to enjoy a Christmas break before returning to India to prepare for the first ODI on January 15.
