Dhawan: I don’t stress myself too much

Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Shikhar Dhawan says he did not put to much pressure on himself as he made a welcome return to form when he struck a half-century as his team beat the Gujarat Lions in the IPL on Thursday.
The left-handed Dhawan hit an unbeaten 53 while opening partner David Warner scored 74 not out as the Sunrisers raced to a 10-wicket win over the previously unbeaten Lions with more than five overs to spare.
The 30-year-old Dhawan was under pressure going into the game as he made low scores in the Sunrisers' three previous IPL games.
He was also in poor touch for India during the recent World T20 on home soil which led to him being dropped for the semifinal defeat against the West Indies.
Dhawan told iplt20.com after the game against Gujarat Lions: "I don't pressurise myself, don't stress myself too much if I'm not scoring runs. Whatever I can do as a human – drill-wise, fitness-wise, I'm doing everything.
"During the periods I am not scoring I learn a lot and I try and better myself. It is a new challenge and I have fun when the pressure increases. I take it positively, I never find failures bad.
"It's not that I've not been scoring runs for ages, it's just been for four-five matches and it can happen to anyone.
"I just kept the process going, kept faith in myself and I knew in one innings things will turn, so I'm happy the way I finished the game [today]."
