Domingo backs Rabada for a county stint

County Cricket

South Africa coach Russell Domingo has backed the idea that young fast bowler Kagiso Rabada takes up an offer to play county cricket in England.

The 20 year-old Rabada equalled the most wickets taken by a South Africa bowler in Tests in the final match against England, and feels a stint playing in England's domestic structures would be helpful to his growth as an international player.

With concerns about his workload, Domingo has already said that the right-arm paceman's workload will be managed in the shorter formats.

On Rabada playing county cricket, Domingo said: "It will benefit him massively. He is still a young boy.

"He hasn't played a lot of four-day cricket and South Africa tour England in 2017 – there is a big series there with Tests and a Champions Trophy – so whatever experience he can get beforehand will be beneficial for him and the team.

"I think it's a very good idea."
