Former India captain Rahul Dravid will be the team's consultant ahead of the five-match Test series against England in the UK, after being asked to help out by coach Duncan Fletcher.
Dravid is set to arrive in England on Monday after the experienced former batsman was asked if he'd mentor the young side in England. Only three of the Test squad have played Tests in England before.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told Cricinfo: "It was the coach (Duncan Fletcher) who approached us on behalf of the team and said it would be good to have Rahul with his vast experience spend some time with the boys ahead of the series.
"We immediately requested Rahul and he readily agreed."
Dravid will be with the team until the start of the first Test on 9 July at Trent Bridge.
When Dravid retired from Test cricket in early 2012, he still averaged over 52 and had 164 Tests to his name. Of those, 13 were played in England and he scored six centuries in the UK and averaged nearly 70.
