England opening batsman Alex Hales has signed for his third Big Bash League side, moving from the Adelaide Strikers to 2013/14 finalists the Hobart Hurricanes for this year's edition.

Hales, one of the top T20 batsmen in the world, previously played for the Melbourne Renegades too, but has now decided to play for the Hobart franchise in the competition that takes place from December to February.

Hales said on the Nottinghamshire website: "I am excited to be playing for one of the strongest teams in the Big Bash League.

"Hopefully I can contribute to the team going all the way this year after making the final last season."

When playing for the Strikers in the previous edition, Hales played eight matches and top-scored with 49, and averaged just under 22. His most recent T20 Blast score for Notts was 63.

Hales was up for auction in the Indian Premier League this year but went unsold, as did all other England players (aside from Kevin Pietersen, who had retired) as their base prices were too high for their limited availability.
