England go for Gurney

The uncapped Harry Gurney has been named in England's squad for next week's one-off ODI against Scotland at Mannofield Park in Aberdeen.
The uncapped Harry Gurney has been named in England's squad for next week's one-off ODI against Scotland at Mannofield Park in Aberdeen.
Gurney was selected for the tour of the Caribbean earlier this year, but did not play a game. A solid stretch of form at first-class level, however, has seen the left-arm fast bowler retained.
Batsman Gary Ballance and all-rounder Moeen Ali have been retained, while openers Alex Hales and Michael Lumb were overlooked. Seamer Stuart Broad was not considered due to persistent patella tendinitis.
"The start of the international summer is always incredibly exciting for everyone involved in England cricket and it has been pleasing to see so many players in good form early on this season," said national selector James Whitaker.
"On behalf of the selectors I would like to wish new coach Peter Moores, captain Alastair Cook and the whole squad all the best for a good performance against Scotland in what we know will be a very competitive fixture."
Squad: Alastair Cook (captain), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Gary Balance, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Jos Buttler, Harry Gurney, Chris Jordan, Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, James Tredwell, Chris Woakes.
