England recall Bresnan

All-rounder Tim Bresnan has been added to England's squad for the remainder of the Ashes series.
All-rounder Tim Bresnan has been added to England's squad for the remainder of the Ashes series.
Bresnan, who sustained a stress fracture of the back in August, made a promising return to competitive cricket for the England Performance Programme against Queensland's second XI at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane recently.
Bresnan scored a superb half-century and clinched four key wickets in the drawn fixture, and has since returned to contention for a berth in the team for the second Test, which will get underway at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
"Tim has been added to the England Test squad following his recovery from a back injury, and is available for selection," read a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Australia lead the five-match series after a convincing 381-run win inside four days at the Gabba in Brisbane, where fast bowler Mitchell Johnson was named Man of the Match on the back of fine figures of nine for 103.
Right-armer Bresnan, who took 10 wickets in three matches against the same opposition at Chester-le-Street in Durham, Lord's in London and Old Trafford in Manchester earlier this year, is likely to replace the tall Chris Tremlett in the playing XI.
