Batsman Ian Bell has been ruled out of England's fifth and final ODI against India at Leeds in Headingley on Friday.

Bell sustained a broken toe earlier this week – and did not play in the fourth fixture, which the tourists won comfortably to take an unassailable three-nil lead in the five-match series.

"England and Warwickshire batsman Ian Bell has been ruled out of the final ODI against India on Friday with a small fracture to his left big toe, sustained before the ODI at Edgbaston," read a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board.

"Bell will not be replaced in the squad for the remaining match."

The right-hander's absence will likely see the left-handed Gary Ballance retained. Ballance scored just seven before perishing to fast bowler Mohammed Shami in Birmingham.
