Eranga ruled out of Colombo Test

Sri Lanka will be without fast bowler Shaminda Eranga for the second Test against South Africa in Colombo this week after he picked up a hand injury in the opening match in Galle.
Sri Lanka will be without fast bowler Shaminda Eranga for the second Test against South Africa in Colombo this week after he picked up a hand injury in the opening match in Galle.
Eranga was fielding in the covers when he collected the ball, and while it looked innocuous on TV, the webbing on his right hand was split and he was unable to bowl for the rest of the match, with eight stitches sewn in. He did bat but at 11.
He has thus been ruled out as Sri Lanka look to level the series at the Sinhalese Sports Club, starting on Thursday. This leaves Dhammika Prasad or Chanaka Welegedera as the options to replace him.
While SLC might name a new replacement entirely, it seems likely that Prasad will get the job, given he took a five-fer against England recently, while Welegedera has not played a Test in two years.
