Ervine returns for India T20s, Panyangara out
The Zimbabwe selectors received some good and bad news ahead of the two T20 matches against India, starting in Harare on Friday, with Craig Ervine returning but Tinashe Panyangara missing out.
Middle-order batsman Ervine has now recovered fully from his hamstring injury. He passed a fitness test at Harare Sports Club yesterday, and is now available for selection.
Ervine missed all three ODI matches against India because of the injury, that he picked up on Zimababwe's ODI tour to Pakistan in May.
However, bowler Panyangara will not be available for the T20 International matches against India, because of a muscle tear sustained while bowling during the first ODI against India on Friday.
Panyangara will remain under extensive physiotherapy for the next two weeks, with the hope that he will be ready for the forthcoming home series against New Zealand in August.
Also expected to be available for selection in a fortnight is Sean Williams, who missed the third ODI against India on Tuesday.
His x-ray report came out yesterday and confirmed a normal right knee joint without any bone fracture, but the Zimbabwe all-rounder is still complaining of pain.
India whitewashed the hosts three-nil in the ODIs.
