Finch unsure about Oz starting berth
Aaron Finch has no idea if he will be selected for Australia's opening game of the World T20, against New Zealand on Friday, but says he is ready to go if required.
The big-hitting Finch is part of a powerful Australia top-order with the selectors having a tough choice to choose who will open the batting.
In the recent three-match series against South Africa the Aussies used different opening combinations in all three games with Finch batting with Usman Khawaja in the first match and then with Shane Watson in the second match.
The 29-year-old Finch hit scores of 40 and two against the Proteas and now has to wait to see if he will make the starting team even though he boasts an average of 39.82 in 26 T20Is at a strike rate of 152.92.
When asked if he will play against the Kiwis, Finch told Cricket Australia's website: "I've got no idea to be honest. I'm just getting prepared to play as everyone is. I'm sure the selectors will make a call once they see the wicket.
"I feel really good with my game at the moment. I feel as though I'm hitting the ball really well so if I get the first crack at it I'm ready to go.
"We get up there (Dharamshala) Tuesday, train Wednesday and Thursday so we'll probably have a really good chance to have a look at the wicket then and the guys (selectors) can make a decision then.
"Not much I can do about it, it's up to the selectors and the captain and the coach now to make a call and whichever way they go.
"I'm sure it will be the right move for the team and the XI they think can win the game."
