Former Bangladesh coach takes charge at Fiji

Former Bangladesh coach Shane Jurgensen has been named as the new head coach of Fiji.
Former Bangladesh coach Shane Jurgensen has been named as the new head coach of Fiji.
Jurgensen ended a lengthy tenure, which was highlighted by an ODI series win over New Zealand in October 2013, earlier this year.
The Fiji National Sports Commission recently revealed extra funds to help raise awareness – and develop smaller sports, like cricket, in the country.
"It truly remarkable that we have someone of Shane's calibre coming to work with us here in Fiji," said said Cricket Fiji's general manager Inoke Lesuma.
"To gain someone on our team who has come from a Test-playing nation to a country that is not currently a part of the World Cricket League is just unheard of."
Australian Jurgensen, one of 60 candidates to apply for the top position, has signed a three-year contract. His role will include oversight of the Fiji Women's and age-grade teams.
