Ganguly: I wouldn’t have given Kohli the final over

Virat Kohli should not have bowled the final for India against the West Indies in the World T20 semifinal in Mumbai, according to former India captain Sourav Ganguly.

A part-timer having not bowled all tournament, Kohli took a wicket with the first ball he bowled, the 14th over of the innings, but did not turn his arm over again until the end.

With the Windies needing eight runs off the final six balls, India skipper MS Dhoni turned to Kohli again hoping he could deliver with his slow medium-pacers.

The Caribbean side went to clinch the victory with two balls remaining and Ganguly said it was easy to say what a skipper should do from the outside.

Ganguly said: "It is easy to say a lot of things in AC rooms but to do them on the field is difficult. Had I been Dhoni, Kohli wouldn't have bowled the last over.

"I would have given him an over right after the one in which he took a wicket. The two best bowlers of the side should bowl the 19th and 20th overs."

The Windies will take on England in the World T20 final in Kolkata on Sunday.
