Gayle almost good to go for India Tests
Batsman Chris Gayle is confident of regaining full fitness ahead of the West Indies’ tough Test series against India.
A back injury has ruled Gayle out of the limited-overs leg of the tour, which will feature five ODIs and a one-off Twenty20 International.
“My recovery has been coming on nicely, and I expect to be fully fit and ready in time for the Test series,” the Jamaica Gleaner quoted Gayle as saying.
“The injury is the same one that has been affecting my back in recent times, but so far it has been coming on well. I have been able to give it some rest and as each day progresses, it keeps getting better and better.”
The Indians and Windies will meet for three Tests – at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad – between 30 October and 19 November.
