Gunathilaka suspension revised
The suspension of Sri Lanka opener Danushka Gunathilaka for six ODI games has been cut in half by Sri Lanka Cricket’s executive committee.
The committee met in Colombo on Monday deciding to suspend the remaining three matches of his suspension for one-year.
The 20% fine on his annual contract fee that he was handed will still stand.
The committee’s decision came after an appeal on behalf of the player by the famous Sinhalese Sports Club.
Gunathilaka missed out on the series against Pakistan as a result of his suspension with Sri Lanka losing both games so far and suffering from a fragile top order.

The events that led to Gunathilaka being suspended inlcuded a missed a training session, turning up to a match without his gear, and generally having an indifferent attitude towards training.
Sri Lanka team manager Asanka Gurusinha had reported the matter to the board who then handed down the punishment to the player.
Gunathilaka has been one of Sri Lanka’s most consistent performers in fifty over cricket this year returning an average of 42.41.
In his absence Sri Lanka have used explosive wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella to open the batting alongside ODI skipper Upul Tharanga with limited success.
Dickwella has returned scores of 19 and 3 in the losses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
