Hameed calls for unity in ODI side


Former Pakistan batsman, Yasir Hameed, has called on the Pakistan team to play as a cohesive unit while expressing the belief that the senior players will have to have an impact for Pakistan to do well.

Pakistan may be the number one ranked Test side in the world, but in ODIs they are ranked ninth, behind the West Indies, and ahead of Afghanistan.

The visitor's will be looking to rise up the rankings and avoid having to play qualifiers for the 2019 ICC World Cup.

Hameed believes Pakistan need to show the same fighting spirit and unity they did in the Tests, to be victorious in the ODIs.

Hameed told APP:"I believe our players will have to show the same unity and fighting spirit to defeat British team in one day series at their home soil."

The man from Peshawar lauded the character the team showed to fight back in the Test series, and hopes the ODI side can repeat that spirit: "Equalizing the series was not easy. But Pakistan team played like a unit and surprised all. Now they will have to show the same commitment and spirit,

"Pakistan players – both batsmen and bowlers will have to deliver if they want to improve their ODI rankings,

"No doubt, England are a strong ODI side, especially at their home soil but they are beatable. Pakistan have shown that in the Test series and now they would have to show that in the ODI series."
