Harbhajan added to India ODI squad
Harbhajan Singh has been added to the India ODI squad for the ongoing series against South Africa after spinner Ravichandran Ashwin suffered an injury.
Ashwin suffered what appeared to be a side strain while bowling in the first ODI against the Proteas in Kanpur on Sunday and subsequently left the field for treatment.
Although Ashwin returned and bowled one more over, the offspinner was in visible pain and his participation for the rest of the five-match series is in doubt.
The BCCI said in a statement: "After making a detailed assessment of the injury, the medical team will confirm the timeframe required for Ashwin to fully recover from the injury.
"Harbhajan Singh has been included in the squad and will join the team before the second match in Indore on Wednesday."
The 35 year-old Harbhajan Singh is a veteran of 232 ODIs for India, taking 262 wickets and average of 33.31.
