Healed Finch cleared to play for Yorkshire

Australia

Australia opener Aaron Finch has been cleared to resume his season, after months of various injuries, and will play the last month of the county season with his 'other' home side, Yorkshire.

Finch was ruled out of the IPL in May when he snapped a hamstring and needed surgery. Then, when he returned for Yorkshire, he was struck by a bouncer, and then broke a bone in his foot. That also needed surgery.

But after months on the sidelines finally back in action, and will replace fellow Aussie Glenn Maxwell at Headingley when the latter goes off for the ODIs against England.

Finch told the Yorkshire website: "I have had a frustrating time with injuries over the last few months but I have worked hard on my rehab and am delighted with my progress.

"I look forward to catching up with the boys later this week and am determined to contribute strongly in the coming weeks."

This does mean that New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson, currently on tour in South Africa, will not be required for that last month. He would have taken over from Maxwell if Finch was still out of commission.
