Herath gets Sri Lanka recall

Sri Lanka have included veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath in their squad for the upcoming seven-match One Day International (ODI) series against England, which starts in Colombo on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old Herath’s inclusion comes after he was rested from the squad that suffered a 5-0 series whitewash in India earlier this month.
The squad also sees off-spinner Dilruwan Perera included in the squad for the first time since 2008 in an attempt to bolster the spinning options within the group.
The other specialist spinner in the 15-man squad is Ajantha Mendis, while leg-spinning all-rounder Jeevan Mendis is the fourth spinning option for the Islanders.
The 32-year-old batsman Thilina Kandamby is also recalled to the squad – his first inclusion since 2011 – in an attempt to bolster a batting line-up which didn’t score 300 in any match against India.
Nuwan Kulasekara has been left out in favour of Shaminda Eranga, while under-fire batsmen Dinesh Chandimal and Ashan Priyanjan have both been dropped.
Fast bowler Lasith Malinga is still recovering from ankle surgery and wasn’t considered.
Sri Lanka ODI squad to face England: Angelo Mathews (captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara (wicketkeeper), Mahela Jayawardena, Lahiru Thirimanne, Jeevan Mendis, Thilina Kandamby, Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera, Ajantha Mendis, Shaminda Eranga, Dhammika Prasad, Thisara Perera, Lahiru Gamage.
