Herath, Sangakkara win SLC awards

Spinner Rangana Herath and wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara have been named Cricketer of the Year and Best Test Batsman respectively at the 2013 Sri Lanka Cricket awards.
Spinner Rangana Herath and wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara have been named Cricketer of the Year and Best Test Batsman respectively at the 2013 Sri Lanka Cricket awards.
Herath, who took 46 wickets at the impressive average of 22.13 during the voting period, also won the Best Test Bowler accolade.
Sangakkara struck 441 runs, including three centuries in four innings, in the only two Tests he played in 2013.
"Hi Everyone – Thank you for watching and supporting me over the last year which I really appreciate. It was an honour receiving these accolades at the SLC Awards. Congratulations too to all the other winners! Thank you all once again for your support," Sangakkara wrote on <i>Facebook</i>.
Opener Tillakaratne Dilshan and seamer Lasith Malinga, meanwhile secured Best ODI Batsman and Best ODI Bowler respectively.
Captain Angelo Mathews took the ODI All-rounder of the Year trophy and the talented Dinesh Chandimal cherished the Emerging Cricketer of the Year honour.
