Hong Kong award central contracts

The Hong Kong Cricket Association has award central contracts to captain Jamie Atkinson, bowlers Aizaz Khan, Nadeem Ahmed, Haseeb Amjad and Tanwir Afzal, all-rounder Nizakhat Khan and batsmen Waqas Barkat, Babar Hayat and Irfan Ahmed.
Irfan and Atkinson were placed in the most lucrative category A, which will afford the pair HK$ 11,500 per month. Nadeem, Amjad, Afzal and Nizakhat were allowed category-B contracts – and Barkat, Hayat and Aizaz category C.
"Several of these players have been paid for some time now but this is the first time we are handing out central contracts. This is for a one-year period starting this month," said HKCA chairman Mike Walsh.
"All this money will come from the International Cricket Council's high-performance fund."
Hong Kong were given ODI status earlier this year – but failed to secure a berth in next year's World Cup. They did, however, upstage Bangladesh in the World Twenty20.
