Hussain tips Gillespie for England job

Following the sacking of Peter Moores as England coach, former Three Lions captain Nasser Hussain would like to see Australian Jason Gillespie get the job.

Moores was axed just moments after the England Cricket Board announced that another former captain, Andrew Strauss, has been appointed as Director of cricket for the national team.

A former Australia fast bowler, Gillespie is the current coach of English domestic side Yorkshire, who he led to the Division one County Championship title last year, their first title in more than a decade.

Gillespie has also overseen the emergence of several players from the English side that have gone on to become regulars in the national set up, Joe Root and Gary Ballance come to mind, and Hussain thinks that should give Gillespie the inside track to the job.

Hussain told Sky Sports News: "I really like Jason Gillespie, I have to say. Every time I've played against him or when I've met him or when I've seen Yorkshire play… what Yorkshire have done as a club, their academy structure, it's absolutely phenomenal.

"You just have to look at the England set-up to see how many good Yorkshire players are coming through, and I think Jason takes a lot of credit for that – and the way he’s handled himself."
