India drop Yuvraj for limited-overs games in Sri Lanka
Veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh has been left out of India’s squad for the upcoming limited-overs games in Sri Lanka.
India, who will play five ODIs and one T20I in Sri Lanka, have also omitted Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant from the squad that did duty against the West Indies in June.
The 35-year-old Yuvraj only scored 57 runs in his three most recent innings against the Windies while he has gone six innings without a half-century with the selectors maybe looking at options for the 2019 World Cup.
Spin duo Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as well as seam bowling pair Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav have all been rested.
Seamer Shardul Thakur and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal have been included in the 15-man squad which also features batsmen KL Rahul and Manish Pandey.
Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah and batsman Rohit Sharma, who were both rested for the West Indies tour, have also been recalled to the squad.
