India include paceman Shami for World T20

Mohammed Shami has been included in India's 15-man squad for the World T20, which starts early in March, despite the paceman still recovering from a hamstring injury.

The 25 year-old Shami, who has not played for the national side since the World Cup last year, was due to play for India on their recent tour to Australia but pulled out due to a hamstring injury.

Chairman of selectors, Sandeep Patil, said of Shami's selection: "We have 30 days now, so Shami has time. We have good time for making a call on Shami, he has been one of the best bowlers. He has recovered.

"The experiments were done in the Australian tour. If we needed a replacement, we wanted to find the cricketer best suited for a position. Here, the players get a short time to make a point. We discussed lot of names."

Batsman Virat Kohli, who has been rested for the upcoming three-match series at home against Sri Lanka, has, as expected, been recalled.

Left-arm spinner Pawan Negi, who received his first international call up for the series against Sri Lanka, has been retained while batsman Manish Pandey and seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar miss out from the squad that will play against their Asian rivals.

Fast bowler, Jaspirt Bumrah, who captain MS Dhoni said  was the find of the tour to Australia, also finds a place in the squad.
