India’s path to U19WC glory in pictures
India lifted the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand after a nearly flawless tournament display with no side able to test the boys in blue.
We now take a look at their path to glory in pictures:
India Under-19s 328/7 (50/50 ov); Australia Under-19s 228 (42.5/50 ov)
India started their tournament with a bang beating Australia comfortably in what was a tricky opening fixture.
Papua New Guinea Under-19s 64 (21.5/50 ov); India Under-19s 67/0 (8/50 ov)
Papua New Guinea were no match for India with their batting crumbling before Privthi Shaw dominated the chase.
Zimbabwe Under-19s 154 (48.1/50 ov); India Under-19s 155/0 (21.4/50 ov)
Zimbabwe did not provide much more resistance than the Islanders had done in the previous match and India cruised to victory.
Quarter-final: India Under-19s 265 (49.2/50 ov); Bangladesh Under-19s 134 (42.1/50 ov)
Shubman Gill put in a star turn in their quarter-final before the India bowlers made short work of the young Tigers batting.
Semi-final: India Under-19s 272/9 (50/50 ov); Pakistan Under-19s 69 (29.3/50 ov)
The semi-final promised much but Pakistan’s batsmen didn’t turn up and India marched into the final.
Final: Australia Under-19s 216 (47.2/50 ov); India Under-19s 220/2 (38.5/50 ov)
India yet again proved too good for Australia bookending their triumph with victories over the boys from down under.
