Inzamam throws weight behind Misbah captaincy

Former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has lauded the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to retain ODI skipper Misbah-ul-Haq until the 2015 World Cup, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand.
Former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has lauded the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to retain ODI skipper Misbah-ul-Haq until the 2015 World Cup, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand.
Misbah has led the ODI unit on 71 occasions, winning 39 times. His record over the last 12 months has brought 16 wins in 32 attempts – and the public support of PCB chairman Najam Sethi.
"I think Misbah has done a good job so far, not only as a batsman but as a leader because he took charge of the team in difficult conditions for Pakistan cricket and has settled down the players and built a good team," Inzamam told PTI.
Pakistan have been pooled with India, the West Indies, Zimbabwe, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Ireland at the World Cup. Crucial series against Sri Lanka and Australia will precede the limited-overs showpiece in Australasia, though.
"The PCB has done the right thing by bringing back Waqar and also making it clear that Misbah will be captain for the next World Cup. These are steps in the right direction," added Inzamam.
"Waqar did a great job in improving the Pakistan team's performance the last time he was head coach so I have big hopes from him this time around as well. I think he will work well with Misbah and they should be able to prepare a strong side for the World Cup."
