Ireland pick uncapped Richardson for England ODI

The uncapped Eddie Richardson has been named in Ireland's squad for next month's one-off ODI against England.
The uncapped Eddie Richardson has been named in Ireland's squad for next month's one-off ODI against England.
All-rounder Richardson has cherished an oustanding stretch of form across two tiers of domestic cricket this season, scoring almost 1,000 runs and clinching 50 wickets.
"It's a dream come true for me really. I can't wait to pull on an Irish jersey. I've worked really hard on my game, especially the last two years and it's fantastic that the selectors have rewarded this with senior recognition," said Richardson.
The 13-man squad features seven players currently involved in English county cricket. The veteran Alex Cusack, however, has been sidelined by a back injury.
The Irish, meanwhile, will unveil a new 10,000-capacity venue at Malahide in north Dublin come 3 September's fixture.
"It's certain to be a fantastic atmosphere at Malahide, given that nearly 8,000 tickets have already gone," added coach Phil Simmons.
"The players can't wait to play at the new venue, and with England as the opponents, there's always that little extra edge.
"It would be something special for the team to give the fans another famous win, which is certainly possible with the talent we have in our ranks."
Squad: Porterfield (captain), George Dockrell, Trent Johnston, Ed Joyce, John Mooney, Tim Murtagh, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien, Eddie Richardson, Matt Sorensen, Paul Stirling, Andrew White, Gary Wilson.
