Jonty called to help Sri Lanka’s fielding

Former South Africa batsman Jonty Rhodes, most famous for his fielding exploits, is in Sri Lanka to help the side hone their techniques in the field and also advise the coaches and junior sides.

Rhodes has just come off an IPL-winning stint with the Mumbai Indians, where he has been on the coaching staff for a few years now, and will help Sri Lanka ahead of their series against Pakistan.

"Jonty Rhodes will educate the coaches apart from the national cricketers and other national, development and junior teams on the latest techniques of fielding," Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement.

Backward point was Rhodes' preferred position, and he was famous for his leaping catches and full-stretch diving stops, as well as that famous run out where he ran face first into the stumps to remove Inzamam ul Haq.
