Seamer Chris Jordan has vowed to remain grounded amid plenty of suggestion of a bright future in the England XI.
Seamer Chris Jordan has vowed to remain grounded amid plenty of suggestion of a bright future in the England XI.
Jordan has secured 17 wickets in 13 limited-overs fixtures since September 2013's international debut – and has been tipped to be named in the squad for June's Test series against Sri Lanka.
"One of the things that I was thinking about and dreaming about as kid growing up making my debut on the international arena," he told ecb.co.uk.
"I got to that stage and I thought enjoy it and express myself the way I know how to. Luckily that paid off.
"I'm bowling quite consistently at the minute ,so I just want to keep my head down, keep continuing that and hopefully I can get a lot wickets for England if selected."
The 25-year-old Jordan, who recently signed a lucrative contract extension with Sussex, has been in particularly fine form in the County Championship. April brought 11 wickets in two fixtures, including a telling haul of five four 76 against Somerest at Hove.
"I've had it in me to bowl quite quickly. At this point in time my body is feeling a lot fitter, I'm recovering well and feeling a lot stronger," he added.
"I think I'm able to sustain that base for a little bit longer now, which is quite encouraging for me and quite exciting for me as that is where I want to be at."
