Sussex fast bowler Steve Magoffin has full faith that team-mate Chris Jordan will have a successful England debut at Lord's if he's picked, saying it's time for the young paceman to get his chance.
Jordan is in line for his Test bow, alongside Sam Robson and Moeen Ali, in the first Test against Sri Lanka on Thursday, after impressing in the recent ODI series against the same opponents, which saw him take 12 wickets in five games.
Magoffin told <i>BBC Sussex</i>: "It is the right time for him to come into the side and really make an impact. He has done that in the short form and there is no reason why he shouldn't do that in Test cricket as well.
"He is performing out of his skin at the moment. Chris has worked hard since coming to the club last year. He is dedicated to his game and improving, and is so precise with everything.
"We are excited for him in the changing room and certainly wish him all the best if he plays."
Jordan was born and grew up in Barbados, before being scouted as a teenager and brought to the UK. He started off with Surrey, but fell by the wayside after some promising efforts. Sussex then bagged him in 2013, and his rise has been meteoric.
The Australian added: "Sussex need to be proud with their involvement in his progress. He was at a stage at Surrey where he perhaps didn't know where his cricket was heading.
"To see such a transformation in such a short period of time shows what natural ability there is in the guy and it is great we have been able to provide an environment for him to display that and get a lot better."
