Acting assistant coach Ruwan Kalpage and spin bowling coach Piyal Wijetunge have resigned a mere 48 hours prior to the start of Sri Lanka's Test series against Pakistan.

Acting assistant coach Ruwan Kalpage and spin bowling coach Piyal Wijetunge have resigned a mere 48 hours prior to the start of Sri Lanka's Test series against Pakistan.

Kalpage and Wijetunge have reportedly been offered jobs by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, under the guidance of fellow Sri Lankan and new national head coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

"The executive committee will acknowledge that the letters have been received, and they might decide whether to give some sort of offer to these coaches, if they want them to stay," said Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be without fast bowler Suranga Lakmal for this month's two Tests in Galle and Colombo.

Lakmal has been sidelined by a left ankle injury sustained during the second and final Test against South Africa recently. The home side will not replace the talented right-armer in the squad.
