Kamran, Malik lose central contracts

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal and all-rounder Shoaib Malik have been removed from the Pakistan Cricket Board's central contract list.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal and all-rounder Shoaib Malik have been removed from the Pakistan Cricket Board's central contract list.

Fast bowler Junaid Khan, meanwhile, has been promoted from category B to A, and batsman Younis Khan downgraded to B.

Pakistan won just two Tests in eight attempts in 2013, boasted a substandard 50 percent winning rate in ODI cricket and endured and early exit at the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh in 2014 – but the contract retainership has been increased by 25 percent regardless.

"The 31 contacts are awarded to established players and young ones with future potential – with across-the-board increases in remunerations," read a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

"The standout feature this year is that not only the monthly retainer has been substantively increased, but also match fees for Test and ODI cricket have seen steep upward revision."

Pakistan will tour Sri Lanka for two Tests and three ODIs between 6 and 30 August.
