Sri Lanka have added two players to their squad for the second Test against Pakistan in Colombo this week, with Dimuth Karunaratne's recall putting Upul Tharanga's place in jeopardy.
Karunaratne has been added after Tharanga's efforts were deemed sub-par, though he was technically a replacement for Nuwan Pradeep and Suranga Lakmal, both fast bowlers. Karunaratne could play if the selectors deem Tharanga's one half ton in six knocks to be unworthy.
Also added to the squad was teenage fast bowler Binura Fernando. He was originally added to gain experience with the squad, but the injuries to Pradeep and Lakmal, as well as Shaminda Eranaga's hand injury, has put him in contention.
Fernando has been one of Sri Lanka's up and coming fast bowlers, both domestically and with the under 19 side, and is nearly seven foot tall. Sri Lanka do lead the series, so a place for him could be on the cards.
