Kevin O’Brien to skipper Ireland in T20’s

Ireland have named their squads for the WT20 qualifiers and a three-match T20 series against Scotland, with the side against their European neighbours being captained by allrounder Kevin O'Brien.

O'Brien will lead the side in the three matches because of the unavailability of regular captain William Porterfield, who will be on duty with his English county side Warwickshire.

Niall O'Brien and Gary Wilson will also miss the Scotland series because of domestic cricket commitments, leaving the younger O'Brien brother to lead the team.

Tyrone Kane, a 20 year-old allrounder, has been included in the 14-man squad as well as wicketkeeper Stuart Poynter, who plays for Durham.

The Scotland T20I's will place on the 18, 19, 21 June while the WT20 qualifiers will be played from the 6-26 July.

Squad for the Scotland series: Kevin O'Brien (capt), Andrew Balbirnie, Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Tyrone Kane, Andrew McBrine, Graeme McCarter, John Mooney, Andrew Poynter, Stuart Poynter, Max Sorensen, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson, Craig Young
