South Africa's bowling stocks have been dealt another blow, adding to Lonwabo Tsotsobe's ankle surgery, with the news that all-rounder Rory Kleinveldt has been diagnosed with a knee injury.

Kleinveldt had been on his way to Northamptonshire next week for a stint with the English county, but had to be withdrawn by Cricket South Africa at the last minute, which prompted a disappointed statement from the Steelbacks.

It read: "Rory Kleinveldt was this morning withdrawn from his contract by Cricket South Africa after a knee injury had been diagnosed by their medical team.

"Rory was due to arrive in the UK on Wednesday, and the late decision by Cricket South Africa is extremely disappointing.

"Northants will continue in their search to bring an overseas player to the club for the 2014 season."

This adds to Northants' injury woes, as they'd initially signed Kleinveldt as a replacement for overseas signing Jackson Bird, who was withdrawn due to a persistent back injury. On top of this, top fast bowler David Willey is also injured.
