Kohli: Delhi win was the best of the series

India captain Virat Kohli said his team's victory in the fourth and final Test against South Africa, late on day five, was the most special after they wrapped up a comprehensive three-nil series victory.

The Proteas put up some solid resistance, batting more than 143 overs, before being bowled in the final session on day five at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi to give the hosts victory by 337 runs.

India already won the series before going into the final game but won the first and third Tests inside three days on surfaces that was criticised by former players and commentators.

After the game, Kohli said: "All wins (in the series) were special but the Kotla win was the most special because we were made to work hard for it.

"It's a team game and all 11 guys deserved credit for keeping their energies up when nothing was happening. We wanted to be 3-0 up. Our bowlers needed to show character and they did it after team.

"We were surprised by their defence and how they approached the innings. We needed to be patient and bowlers should be proud of their effort. It was a proud moment that the number one side chose to adopt this tactic against us."

India lost the three T20s against the visitors, two-nil, while the Proteas also won the five-match ODI series three-two.
