KP: Morgan’s call to miss tour is brave

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen feels Eoin Morgan’s decision not to go to Bangladesh is a brave one, especially as it could spell the end of his international career.
Morgan, the captain of the ODI side, has opted, along with Alex Hales, not to go on the tour due to safety concerns, and Pietersen labelled the decision ‘courageous’.
Morgan’s decision has come under heavy fire, especially as the tour has been deemed safe by experts, but Pietersen has backed his friend.
KP wrote on Twitter: “Very very courageous decision by Eoin anyway! Right or wrong, he was given a choice.
“It’s ok @Eoin16, the world T20 tour is a lot more fun than international cricket anyway!
“To all those asking if I would go to Bangladesh – I can’t. I have the best wk of the sporting calendar to enjoy. The @dunhilllinks!”
Pietersen had written in the Telegraph before Morgan’s decision was announced: “Eoin Morgan has no choice but to go to Bangladesh.
“It is a case of one in, all in so if he does not go he will have a red cross next to his name as far as the bosses at the England and Wales Cricket Board are concerned.
“When Alastair Cook is willing to lead the Test squad it puts huge pressure on Eoin as captain of the one-day team.”
Jos Buttler will captain the ODI side in Morgan’s absence.
Ahead of the Bangladesh tour, Cricket365’s James Doan has recalled five of the most memorable innings played by England batsmen against the Tigers since they gained Test status in 2000.
