Kusal fails drugs test, sent home from NZ tour

Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Kusal Perera has tested positive for a banned substance and has been sent home from the Asian side's tour to New Zealand.
The 25 year-old left-handed batsman failed a random drugs test conducted by the ICC after the recent home series against Pakistan, and has been replaced in the Test squad by Kaushal Silva.
Sri Lanka Cricket released a statement saying that they will take all the necessary steps to have a further sample tested and help Kusal play at the earliest available opportunity.
An ICC spokesman told Cricinfo: "The ICC can confirm that Mr Kusal Perera has been charged by the ICC with an anti-doping rule violation pursuant to the ICC Anti-Doping Code after a sample he provided was found to contain a Prohibited Substance,"
"In accordance with the Code Mr Perera has been provisionally suspended pending the outcome of the disciplinary process to be followed under the Code.
"The ICC will not make any further comment in this matter until such time as the disciplinary proceedings are resolved."
Kusal had been picked in all three squads for Sri Lanka's tour of New Zealand which will see the Asian team play two Tests, five ODIs and two T20Is.
