Australia spinner Nathan Lyon is confident of being the first-choice slow bowler during the upcoming Ashes Down Under, saying he has been working hard on his game since moving to Sydney to play for New South Wales.

Lyon shockingly found himself unpicked for the first Ashes Test in England earlier this year, with Ashton Agar selected for his debut and making a splash with the bat. Agar kept his place for the second Test, but Lyon returned for the last three games.

England won the series three-nil, but Lyon is sure that he will be able to take some wickets in the return leg and help his side 'get the job done', and has enjoyed being part of a Blues side that boasts a number of Baggy Green players.

The 25-year-old said: "You have to be confident in this game. I'm confident in my own skill set to get the job done, there's no doubt about that. I'm really happy with the way I've been bowling.

"I guess being around the likes of Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin, Shane Watson (at NSW), and there's a lot of others you could name, is just going to help me learn about cricket and that's what I want to do.

"I want to keep learning and keep getting better. I just want to keep enjoying life's experiences and being around these guys and training with them is going to hopefully help my cricket career."
