Lyon proud of breaking spin wicket record

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon now holds the record for the most wickets by an Aussie spinner in Tests, having overtake the record on day two against the West Indies, and he called it a 'big moment'.

Lyon overtook Hugh Trumble's 141 wickets when he removed Kraigg Brathwaite, and went on to take two more on the day in Jamaica. Lyon was pleased with the record, and said it was something he'd look back on once retired.

Lyon said of the record after the day's play: "I'm pretty proud. It's a big moment. As I keep saying, and always say, I'll look back at these things at the end of my career.

"I am proud of the achievement that's for sure. It's a big record to break. Hopefully I can add to it."

He added of his form in general: "I'm still learning. I feel like I'm learning each time I go out into the nets. Each time I walk out into the nets and in the middle I try to get better each and every day.

"I've got a lot of learning to do and I'm really enjoying it and hopefully it's just the start. (I can improve in) every facet. Batting, bowling, fielding, the whole lot.

"I want to keep getting better at my bowling. I want to keep getting a better stock ball. I'm really happy with where my stock ball is at the moment but I want to keep getting better.

"It’s as simple as that. I want to keep learning. The day I stop learning and don't want to get better is the day I'll give it up.

"I just want to keep getting better, keep getting more consistent, work on a few different balls here and there as I have been in the last couple of years with (spin coach) John Davison.

"I'm really happy and really confident with the way my bowling’s going at the moment."
