Lyon to target England left-handers

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon says he is looking forward to bowling against England's left-handed batsmen when the Ashes gets underway next month.

With the pitches in the UK set to be on the dry side because of Australia's pace battery, Lyon might have more of a say in the outcome of the series than most people think.

The home side could also have up to seven left-handers in their starting team and Lyon is relishing the prospect.

The Aussie offspinner said: "I can't see them being fast and bouncy that's for sure. I'm expecting something pretty similar to last time, probably good batting wickets and hopefully they'll take a bit of spin and hopefully that may play into my hands.
"With the pace that we've got in our squad with Johnson, Starc, Siddle, Harris, Watson, Marsh… there is no real weak link there, so I dare say they will be taking the speed out of the pitch, that's for sure.
"I'm confident in my skill to get the job done for Australia, especially because they've got several left-handers in the squad which I'm quite excited to be bowling at."

The Ashes series starts on 8 July with the first Test taking place in Cardiff.
