MacGill declines Bangladesh offer

Former Australian leg spinner Stuart MacGill has turned down a role as Bangladesh’s spin coach.
The BCB had selected MacGill for the role in the hopes he would give the team some insights on the inbound Australia Test tour.
BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said in a statement: “You know that our president (Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan) already cleared it that Stuart MacGill was our first choice as spin bowling coach.
“(But) for some of his personal reasons he cannot join the team at the moment,” Chowdhury told reporters at a press briefing in Dhaka.
“We will now go for our second or third option. We hope within a day or two we will be able to tell something about this.”

The role of spin coach was vacated by Sri Lankan Ruwan Kalpage last year after he was fired for failing to report for work.
Kalpage refused to return to Bangladesh from his home in Sri Lanka shortly after a militant group attacked a Dhaka café in July 2016.
Bangladesh host Australia in Two Tests the first of which gets underway in Mirpur on August 27.
Australia arrive in Bangladesh later this week with their preparations for the series opener likely to be disrupted in what is still monsoon season.
The tourists have prepared for the tour with a camp in Darwin, where they attempted to simulate the spin friendly conditions expected in Bangladesh.
