Maxwell’s state swap bid denied by Victoria

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s bid to move state teams ahead of the new domestic season has been scuppered, with Victoria denying his request to move to New South Wales.
Maxwell missed the transfer window, which ended in mid-August, by quite a long way, and the Bushrangers refused to release him from his Cricket Australia contract with them.
Maxwell had wanted to move to Sydney to further his red ball batting, but he was too late with his request, and the Melbourne-based team have insisted he honour his contract with them for the next season.
A Bushrangers spokesperson said on Cricinfo: “Glenn is an integral member of the Bushrangers squad.
“We’ll be working closely with Glenn this season to help him achieve his targets and ensure he is operating at a level to be consistently in contention for Australian selection.”
Victoria’s new season starts on 5 October, with the Matador Cup kicking off.
