‘Maybe it was a mistake to play just one pacer’

Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim admits that it could have been a blunder to go into their one-off Test against India with just one pace bowler.

The Tigers escaped from the game in Fatullah with a draw, after most of the five days was curtailed because of the rain, despite being made to follow-on after being bowled out for 256 in reply to India's 462 for five.

India looked rather untroubled while they were batting as the Tigers' four spinners were largely ineffective, a claim Mushfiqur acknowledged.

After the match Mushfiqur said: "Maybe had we taken another pacer it could have been good. There might have been a mistake from our side. We take a decision together with logic.

"Maybe if we would have won the toss, things would have been different and our four spinners could have attacked their batsmen more.

"So maybe we can learn from this experience and know what are the positives and negatives of playing with a single pacer."

The teams will now clash in three ODI's in Mirpur later this month.
