Mishra returns to Test squad after four years
India have announced their squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka next month, with KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara included, and spinner Amit Mishra also getting a call-up.
It's a timely call up for Rahul and Pujara, with both scoring half centuries for India A against Australia A. Pujara last played a Test in December last year, while Rahul Made his debut in Sydney in January, and has played only two Tests in total.
Leggie Mishra is the real surprise package though, as he has not played a Test since 2011, and averages 43 with the ball across 13 Tests. He last played cricket in May with the Delhi Daredevils.
Karn Sharma was the man to make way for Mishra due to injury, while paceman Mohammed Shami is also missing as he's not fit.
Otherwise, skipper Virat Kohli will play in India A's 'unofficial Test' against Australia A in Chennai, to get some match fitness, the BCCI said when announcing the team.
India Test squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Amit Mishra, Varun Aaron.
