Morgan hails ODI victory on turning pitch
England captain Eoin Morgan has hailed his team's performance after they chased down Pakistan's total 208 to comfortably win the third ODI by six wickets, with nine overs remaining, and take a two-one series lead with one match still to play.
Morgan was particularly impressed by the manner in which they chased down a tricky target on a turning pitch as James Taylor (67*) and Jos Buttler (49*) steered the side to victory with an unbroken stand of 117 for the fifth wicket.
The pair ccame together when the Three Lions were in a bit of trouble at 93 for four but quickly got to grips with the slow nature of the surface.
Morgan said after the game: "I think one of the most pivotal things in the performance was the chase, the pitch turned a lot more than we expected it to. I thought the partnership between Buttler and Taylor was outstanding.
"It's a huge step forward for us, particularly our middle order and our batting unit having absolute clarity in what we were doing and playing in the positive way in which we're trying to improve the way we play all the time.
"Today was brilliant for us. It was a magnificent win, we look to the next game to go on and win the series, we've earned the right to do that so hopefully we can produce another performance like today."
England cannot lose the series but would want to wrap up the trophy in style when the final ODI takes place in Dubai on Friday.
