South Africa are waiting on the fitness of fast bowler Morne Morkel and batsman JP Duminy, ahead of Tuesday's ODI tri-series fixture against Australia at the Harare Sports Club.

Morkel sustained a shoulder injury recently, while Duminy is nursing a hurt knee – and will only play

"Morne and JP have been struggling with chronic injuries that have flared up in the last few weeks. We will be sending them in for scans to ascertain the extent of the injuries and to determine what further action will need to be taken," said team manager, doctor Mohammed Moosajee.

"Both players are key cogs of the ODI side, especially for the remainder of the current triangular series, and have been receiving intensive rehabilitation from our physiotherapist, Brandon Jackson."

Morkel and Duminy are expected to be named in the Proteas squad for next year's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year. The South African have been pooled with India, Pakistan, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates at the 2015 limited-overs showpiece.

"We have an important six months coming up with the World Cup in sight, it's important for the players to be fully fit," added Moosajee.
