South Africa will be without JP Duminy and Morne Morkel for the second T20I against Pakistan in Dubai on Friday, as both have been sent home to rest ahead of Pakistan's trip to SA later this month.

All-rounder Duminy and fast bowler Morkel both played in the Test and ODI series, so CSA decided to give them a break, especially with the series against India coming up in early December too.

The Proteas won the first T20 with ease on Wednesday, meaning the senior duo's presence would not be as important, given a series loss would not be on the cards.

Proteas team manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee said: "We have a busy six month period of cricket ahead of us culminating with the ICC World Twenty20 so it's vital for us to manage workload and mental freshness at opportune moments, especially for the players that play in all three formats.

"We've seen how fired up Dale (Steyn) has been since his rest so we may also need to look at following the same approach with a guy like AB (De Villiers) who is an important part of our senior player group."

This doesn't mean their domestic franchises can get excited ahead of the One Day Cup final at Newlands on Friday, as both players have been prohibited from playing for the Cobras (Duminy) and the Titans (Morkel).
